Parenting Support

When children participate in therapy, the work doesn’t happen in isolation. Children grow and learn within their relationships, and parents are the most important part of that environment. For this reason, parent involvement is a meaningful and essential part of the therapeutic process.

At Nurture & Thrive, we view therapy as a collaborative partnership with caregivers. Parents will participate in regular parent meetings where we reflect on progress, discuss challenges, and develop practical strategies that support your child’s growth at home and in daily life.

What Parent Sessions May Look Like

Parent sessions are supportive, collaborative conversations focused on helping you feel more confident in navigating challenges that arise at home. During these meetings we may:

  • Gain an understanding of your child’s behavior and what they may be communicating

  • Identify patterns that may be contributing to struggles or stress

  • Learn practical strategies to support emotional regulation and problem solving

  • Strengthen positive parent–child interactions

  • Translate insights from therapy into everyday parenting moments

Parenting is complex, and every family encounters moments of uncertainty. Parent work provides a thoughtful space to step back, reflect, and develop tools that help both you and your child feel more supported.

Parent Involvement Matters

  • When parents are included in the process, they gain insight into their child’s emotional world and learn ways to respond that strengthen connection, confidence, and emotional regulation.

  • Research consistently shows that when caregivers are actively involved in treatment, children experience stronger and more lasting improvements in areas such as emotional regulation, behavior, and family relationships.

  • Children thrive when the important adults in their lives feel supported and empowered.

  • Parenting work nurtures stronger relationships, deepens understanding, and creates change that extends beyond the therapy room.

Our goal is to help families not only navigate challenges, but also build the kind of connection and resilience that allows children—and their parents—to truly thrive.
